Best Healthy Pizza Recipe February 10, 2015 recipes, weight management Best Healthy Pizza Recipe Hi everyone, In honour of the holiday “National Pizza Day” (I’m guessing this is an American thing!), I thought I would create a round up of delicious sounding healthy pizza recipes (well actually bases to be precise) that are made from a range of ingredients, that fit every diet category under the sun. You are welcome to call them gluten free pizzas, vegan pizzas (some of them), paleo pizzas, low carb pizzas, or whatever other title suits your particular dietary preferences category…I’m just going to call them healthy, and leave it at that. I absolutely love the idea of replacing an “empty calorie” part of a meal (the refined flour base) with a nutrient packed and far more filling alternative that is going to be high in fibre or protein, and lead to the entire meal being more satisfying. It may look like I’ve turned paleo by the end of this post..but please just let me point out, there is definitely still some cheese on these pizzas! All in all, if we can pack a nutritional punch, it tastes good, and it be super easy to make..I think we can take it that we are simply onto something good here! So what have we got? 1. A zucchini pizza, from the Proud Italian Cook blog: Zucchini boat pizza base 2. A cheese and mushroom (although you can play with the toppings really!) pizza omelette from the UK Egg Recipe website: omelette high protein pizza – best healthy pizza recipe 3. A portobello mushroom pizza base from the Lifes A Strawberry blog: Mushroom pizza base – best healthy pizza recipe 4. A serious protein packed and “paleo” pizza base (made from beef) on The Clothes Make The Girl blog: Meat base pizza – healthy pizza recipe 5. A gluten free and low carb flaxseed meal pizza base from the Delighted Momma blog: Flax seed, gluten free, low carb pizza base – healthy pizza recipe 6. A low kilojoule, super easy to create, eggplant base pizza from the Tumeric and Spice blog: Eggplant pizza base – best healthy pizza recipe 7. A high fibre cauliflower crust from the Nutrition Stripped blog: Cauliflower pizza crust – healthy pizza recipe and finally, 8. A butternut squash (pumpkin) pizza base that would be packed with fibre and vitamins from the Wholehearted Eats blog: Pumpkin pizza base – healthy pizza recipe Are you excited to try a new pizza base after reviewing this list? I hope there is at least one here that sparks some enthusiasm! I also saw some recipes for chicken base pizzas, as well as broccoli base pizzas…so you never know, maybe just throw in a random vegetable or food into google search and see what comes up! (someone might have already done the hard work in recipe development for you). Enjoy National Pizza Day!
