I know, it’s time, the personal update post has certainly been lurking, but I as usual have been putting it off in the hope that I will have something more cemented to share with you all (and as per usual, that does not seem to happen in my life!).

So where to start..

As I mentioned in my previous post, within 3 days of arriving, I found a wonderful apartment in the heart of Greenwich Village to move into with 2 gorgeous young woman. Due to a bit of a rotation on move in and out dates, I actually ended up getting to live with the departing flat mate too, which simply equaled another new wonderful girl friend that has been made.

As usual, I have been finding NYC welcoming, encouraging, and all in all, the place where I feel at my strongest. New friends have been made instantaneously, men actually talk to me in this country (my close personal friends will understand that comment), and colleagues as usual have been extremely supportive.

Put it this way, I can’t wipe the smile of my face (people probably think I’m a little crazy..but that’s okay, I probably am!)..and in my eyes, it’s not exactly the worst problem to be having, right?

Days have been filled as usual for me with health food and grocery store research around the latest products that are available, as well as social gatherings, dining out, and all this mixed in with a little bit of work for my clients back in Australia.

Having found a place to call my home, I decided it was time to set out on a bit of a job hunt..what was to come next was certainly not what anyone could have imagined!

I dont know how other people feel, but for me, applying for jobs I can’t say I particularly want, seems like an awful waste of energy!

Sending out hundreds of emails for roles that by no means appeared suitable based on the random mix of work experience I have created for myself over the years, made it very hard for both an employer to see how I could be a good fit for them, and secondly for me to sound like I actually genuinely wanted the job!

Finding healthy food products..that seems more appropriate for me than some of the other jobs!

I did make it to one interview, and sitting in the room, the words coming out of my mouth were something along the lines of “Potentially I’m not exactly a 100% fit for this position, so how about we just stay in touch and see how things evolve down the track”…lets just say we both agreed in the follow up email that this job did not have my name written on it! (side note – if you ever DO want a job..don’t say that in the interview!).

So after a couple of weeks of applying for jobs that did not seem right, I decided to bring entrepreneurial Kara back into the picture…and this is where the fun begins..

Meet Joshie..hopefully my new co-host!

I have managed to track down a production company who specialises in cooking shows who appear to have taken a liking to one of my healthy food show ideas, and with every ounce of momentum I have been able to build, I have rallied together a co-host, celebrity guests, nutrition colleagues, and the production crew to somehow get a pilot scheduled to be shot in 2 weeks time!

Road trip I took myself on to meet the production company..was well worth it for a great meeting!

All I can say is that I really hope, with my fingers crossed, and with a positive mind, that a positive outcome will be achieved, and a television show that actually benefits peoples health can be put to air in the coming few months!

If it will be taken up by a station, I don’t know, if I will need to find sponsors, I don’t know..but all I do know is that sometimes you have to just give it a go!

Sometimes you have to just give it a go..like ask if you can come to google for lunch..and then actually get to go to google for lunch!

Reality is, these things don’t always go to plan, but in my mind, I figure the worst that can happen is that I gave it a shot, I sold my car that I guess I don’t really need whilst in this part of the world to help bankroll a few extra initiatives, and I then apply for hopefully a more suitable job if need be…Not exactly the end of the world in my eyes.

just having a bit of fun, and a giving things a bit of a go..lets see what can be achieved!

As I always say..if I don’t live my life, no one else will for me!

So there you have it, 3 weeks into my new life over here, and I’m smiling.

Fingers crossed there will be a lot more to share with you all one way or another in the next couple of months!

For now,
